Anthony Freud, Lyric Opera of Chicago’s general director, president & CEO, announced additional new programming following the cancellation of all 2020/21 Season live mainstage performances, in accordance with ongoing 2020 health considerations and regulations. These programs include Pasión Latina, a documentary on Creating The Factotum, and Sole e Amore (Sun and Love).

Lyric Opera of Chicago's General Director, President & CEO, Anthony Freud, has made the difficult decision to cancel the remainder of Lyric's 2020/21 Season, based on guidance from city and state agencies regarding the ongoing health crisis. The company had previously canceled performances through the end of calendar year 2020.

In light of ongoing 2020 health considerations and regulations that have forced Lyric to cancel live mainstage performances through December 31, 2020, Anthony Freud, Lyric Opera of Chicago's general director, president and CEO, announces the company's reimagined slate of exciting artistic activities.

As the architecturally significant and majestic home of Lyric Opera of Chicago marks its 90th anniversary, Lyric announced that the company plans to undertake one of the most ambitious improvement projects in its history. In 2020, Lyric’s Ardis Krainik Theatre will undergo a significant renovation and improvement project that will include replacement of all of the theater’s seats, a restructuring of the sightlines on the main floor of the house, and greatly enhanced accessibility and overall guest experience.

Mazzola is only the third person to serve in this role at Lyric following Sir Andrew Davis, who celebrates his 20th year at the helm and will complete his tenure with Lyric's 2020/21 season, formally "passing the baton" to Mazzola for the 2021/22 season.
